STRETCHING SUNDAY! 🧘🏽‍♀️

Windmills are yet another, great active stretch used to open up (lengthen) the hamstrings and mobilize the scapula (shoulder blades) all while engaging your core. This active movement warmup is an excellent way to prepare the body for strength based or loaded exercises such as deadlifts, squats or lunges because it actively warms-up and stretches the hamstrings without reducing force production, such as with static stretching.

Add thoracic rotation while stabilizing your hips, core, and lower back to mobilize your t-spine. Keep your back straight as an arrow and your hips hinged back – behind your knees and heels. You should feel a good stretch in your hammies the entire time. Notice in the video, when Roneet starts her hands are on the yoga black, but after a few reps, she’s touching the floor. Breathe deeply throughout the movement to encourage lengthening and decrease tension.
